Zao Ropeway

Why don't you peep through the blue sky doorway of Zao ropeway and see nature’s stage colorfully decorated by the seasons? You can enjoy winter sports and views of frost covered trees in winter, and trekking and colored leaves in other seasons.

Ropeway Sanroku Line was upgraded in September 2011 with its 3rd generation of gondola. The new gondola was made in Switzerland, a country well known for mountain sightseeing, and has much bigger windows than the 2nd generation gondola. It is also much quieter thanks to its rubber wheels. Why don’t you enjoy the 360-degree panorama views of the area’s beautiful seasonal views?

Ropeway Sancho Line features improved stability and comfort thanks to the cables being wider than the gondola itself, which reduces shaking and swinging due to wind. Passengers can comfortably sit inside the gondola and enjoy viewing a variety of seasonal vistas through the large windows that offer panoramic 360-degree views, such as frost covered trees and colored leaves.

Check out the illuminated frost covered trees, called "snow monsters". Enjoy the fantastic atmosphere of the colorfully illuminated frost covered trees in the silent darkness through the windows of the gondola. You will find that are very different in daytime when they are brighter in the beautiful snow. You can also enjoy riding in the latest Night Cruiser, a special heated snow mobile that can take you up close to hoarfrosts and the "snow monsters".

Diners at Sancho restaurant can not only enjoy eating but also an encompassing view of Zao, Yamataga. The area provides exquisite seasonal views such as fresh green in spring, cool air in summer, colored leaves in autumn, and frost covered trees in winter. Visitors can enjoy fantastic views of nature that change with the season while dining on high-quality dishes. During the ski season, a restaurant in the ski area is also open where you can enjoy large and tasty dishes.

At Yokokura Ski Center, cheerful and friendly instructors familiar with local conditions are ready to run lessons to help you enjoy skiing. The "Ski Badge Test", a certification test officially approved by SAJ, is also available along with various rental services and ski products.
