A splendid golden dragon dance at Sensoji Temple!
The Golden Dragon Dance will be held in front of the main hall of Sensoji Temple on October 18, 2023!
The name of the Golden Dragon Dance comes from Kinryuzan, the honorific name of Sensoji which means “Golden Dragon Mountain.” It was first presented to commemorate the reconstruction of the main hall in 1958.
The lotus pearl, which symbolizes, Kannon, the goddess of mercy, leads the performance. The Golden Dragon, which protects it, parades through the shops of the temple and the temple grounds.
The splendid Golden Dragon is around 18 meters in length and 88 kilometers in weight. The dragon dancing among the musical accompaniment is a must see!
