The "Yayoi Festival", held every year at the Nikko Futarasan-jinja Shrine
for 5 days from April 13, is a traditional festival with 1200 years of
history.
On April 16 and 17 every year, flower floats decorated with bright pink
Yashio Azalea (Menziesia purpurea) depart from 11 towns towards the
Futarasan-jinja Shrine.
The highlight of the festival is when many people pulling these flower
floats run up towards the grounds after arriving at the shrine!
