[Tanabata Festival 2018 is currently being held at Tokyo SKYTREE TOWN℠]

The “Tanabata Festival” is one of the annual Japanese events where people write their wishes on strips of paper then hang them on bamboos.
In Japan, there are various events for wishing things such as a good harvest in autumn, or improvement of accomplishments and calligraphy. The origin of “Tanabata” is that people started decorating bamboo, which was considered a sacred plant in those days, with strips of paper with their wishes written on them.

On display for 16 days, from June 23 (sat) through July 8 (sun), are 58 Tanabata decorations used in the “Sendai Tanabata Festival” which is famous as one of the three major summer festivals in Tohoku! At the Solamachi Shotengai Shopping District, with its total of a 120 meters long 1st floor of Tokyo Solamachi℠, as many as 45 Tanabata decorations will be exhibited♪
